Archery World Cup, Stage 3: India captures double bronze

The third stage of the Archery World Cup is currently taking place in Medellin, Colombia, with some of the best archers in the world competing.

Indian men's and women's compound teams won a bronze medal each on Wednesday.

The Indian women's team, comprising  Aditi Swami, V.Jyothi Surekha and Parneet Kaur, received a first-round bye, before defeating El Salvador 230-223 in the second round.

The semi-finals saw them lose 232-232 (28-29) to the USA. However, they defeated Mexico by a score of 32-232 (29*-29), by shooting closer to the centre in the shoot-off for the bronze medal.

In the men's category, India's contingent comprising Abhishek Verma, Ojas Deotale and Prathamesh Jawkar first defeated Chile 237-228 and Slovenia 237-223.

Though they lost 237-237 (27-29) to Mexico in the semifinals, India overcame hosts Colombia by a score of 236-228 to win the bronze medal.
