現地12月28日（日本時間12月29日）、ボストン・レッドソックスがコーリー・クルーバー投手と契約に合意したことをMLB公式Twitterが報じた。
ESPNのジェフ・パッサン記者によると1年契約で2年目は球団オプションとなっているとのこと。

現在36歳のクルーバーは2014年と2017年にサイ・ヤング賞を受賞した右腕。今シーズンはタンパベイ・レイズに所属し10勝10敗、防御率4.34の成績を残した。
通算では256試合（先発251試合）の登板で113勝71敗、防御率3.31。
2020年はニューヨーク・ヤンキースでプレーしており、3年間でアメリカン・リーグ東地区の異なる3球団でプレーすることになった。
