George Kambosos has returned to the winners' circle on Sunday (AEST), with the former world champion escaping with a majority decision victory over Maxi Hughes.

Searching for his first win since 2021, Kambosos headed to Oklahoma for a bout with the Englishman and put himself back into title contention, with the Aussie star gaining the 114-114 117-111 115-113 triumph.

Kambosos was admittedly below his best throughout the 12-round bout, but did enough to earn the result from the judges and will now look for new challenges in the lightweight division.

The Sporting News had all the live updates from Kambosos vs Hughes below.

George Kambosos vs Maxi Hughes full card results

George Kambosos def. Maxi Hughes via majority decision (114-114 117-111 115-113)

Hughes was the busier fighter throughout the 12 rounds but the scorecards perhaps didn't reflect his performance, and while Kambosos' aggression and pressure failed to translate to any major damage, he improved his record to 21-2 with a hard-fought victory. Kambosos admitted after the fight he "needed to be greedier" but is looking forward to moving back into world title contention.

Round 12: A clash of heads early in the round sees the referee intervene. Both fighters let their hands go in the final minute, with Kambosos landing a couple of decent blows. Not the performance the former champ was looking for and it will be very interesting to see the scorecards.

Round 11: Another quiet round for both men. Kambosos will likely need a stoppage in the final round to win this fight.

Round 10: Kambosos evades a big shot from Hughes and counter with a left hand. Hughes lands a left hand late in the round.

Round 9: Kambosos shows plenty of urgency throughout the round but doesn't land any major shots. Hughes is backed up throughout and fails to hit back with any counter offence this time around.

Round 8: Hughes scores with a counter right-hand, but Kambosos maintains his composure. Hughes lands again with a straight left as Kambosos struggles to connect with any meaningful punches.

Round 7: Replays show the head clash which led to both fighters spilling some claret. Hughes latches on and attacks the body, but it fails to faze Kambosos who bounces back with more pressure. Kambosos looks for the uppercut but misses, before landing with one of his best shots of the fight later in the round. An impressive round for the Aussie.

Round 6: Kambosos narrowly misses with a huge hook. Hughes connects with a straight left but Kambosos continues to bring the aggression as the underdog begins to bleed as well. Kambosos lands a good shot with Hughes up against the ropes to end the round.

Round 5: Hughes walks into a shot from Kambosos but shrugs it off. Both men begin to swing and Hughes gets the better of the exchange, splitting the Aussie above the eye and causing him to stagger for a brief moment. Hughes counters Kambosos' pressure with an uppercut late in the round.

Round 4: Quiet round for both fighters, with Kambosos scoring a handful of times with minimal opportunities.

Round 3: Kambosos controls the ring but cops a few more counter shots from Hughes, including a nasty blow to the abdomen. Another good round for the Englishman as both fighters continue to take the patient approach.

Round 2: Slight head clash as Kambosos dictates the pace. Hughes connects with a couple of left hands but the Aussie appears unfazed. Even going across the first two rounds.

Round 1: Kambosos presses forward continually throughout the opening round, but Hughes lands a few nice counter strikes that halts the former champion's momentum.

Keyshawn Davis def. Francesco Patera via unanimous decision

A clinical performance from Davis, who scored the victory on all three judges' scorecards (100-89, 100-89 & 99-90). The undefeated 24-year-old dropped Patera in the eighth round and was the clear dominant force throughout the bout, improving his career record to 9-0 and claiming after the bell that "he is here to stay" in the lightweight division.

Giovani Santillan def. Erick Bone via unanimous decision

The welterweight bout (97-92, 98-92 & 97-93) started out at even pace, but Santillan was too strong in the second-half of the contest and gained a comfortable win.

Jeremiah Milton def. Willie Harvey via TKO

The heavyweight prospect stopped his opponent in between the fourth and fifth rounds after a clinical display.

Troy Isley def. Antonio Todd via unanimous decision

The undefeated American middleweight and former Olympian was at his best on Saturday night, coming away with a dominant points triumph (79-73, 79-73 & 79-73) over Todd.

Hemi Ahio def. Amron Sands via TKO

The Kiwi heavyweight record his 21st professional victory, finishing Sands in the sixth round.

The 31-year-old Aussie proved too strong for his opponent, garnering a sixth-round stoppage to start the night.
