Asia Cup 2023: India vs Nepal player ratings - Ravindra Jadeja shines as India wins by D/L method

India beat Nepal by 10 wickets via DLS in their second match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Monday at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy.

Upon winning the toss, Rohit Sharma put the opposition to bat. Debutants Nepal got off to a good start and were at 65/1 after 10 overs. Sharma then introduced Ravindra Jadeja to the attack which proved to be a masterclass as the left-arm spinner took three wickets and broke the spine of the Nepalese batting lineup.

In a rain-affected tie, Nepal were eventually bowled out for 230 runs. While chasing the total, the game got halted once again and when it resumed, India's revised target was 145 from 23 overs. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman batted brilliantly and helped India reach the target within 21 overs.

India vs. Nepal: India player ratings

Shubman Gill (9/10): The young opener ably supported captain Rohit Sharma in their run chase and scored 67 off 62 ball to ensure India chase down the total without losing a wicket.

Rohit Sharma (9/10): The India captain led from the front and scored 74 off 59 balls and helped India chase down Nepal's revised total successfully.

Virat Kohli (7/10): The star Indian batsman did not get a chance to bat today but he took a spectacular catch of danger man Aasif Sheikh who was going strong at that time at 58.

Shreyas Iyer (-1/10): The Indian middle-order batsman had no rule to play today against Nepal as India did not lose any wickets in the second innings. He, though, dropped a catch, at the beginning of the match.

Ishan Kishan (7/10): Despite losing an early catch, Kishan did manage to make up for it by taking three catches in the rest of the innings including the catches of Kushal Bhurtel and Sompal Kami who started their innings well.

Hardik Pandya (7/10): The Indian vice-captain had an impressive outing with the ball as he managed to pick up a wicket and conceded just 34 runs in 8 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja (9/10): The most valuable player for India in the game was experienced Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who picked up three wickets in 10 overs conceding only 40 runs.

Shardul Thakur (6/10): Shardul was expensive with the ball today conceding 26 runs in four overs and managed to pick up one wicket.

Kuldeep Yadav (6/10): The left-arm leggie did not get any scalp today but conceded just 34 runs in his quota of 10 overs.

Mohammed Shami (7/10): After being dropped against Pakistan in the last match, Shami returned to the lineup. While he managed to pick just one wicket, he was extremely economical as he conceded just 29 runs of 7 overs. 

Mohammed Siraj (8/10): Along with Jadeja, Siraj was also the top wicket-taker of India today taking three wickets for 61 runs in 9.1 over. 

What next for the Indian team?

The Indian team will be back in action against Ireland for the second T20I on Sunday.
