T20 World Cup prize money: How much will the winners take home?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced a record prize money for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be the highest ever in the tournament's history.

The ongoing T20 WC 2024 co-hosted by the United States of America (USA) and West Indies features 20 teams, expanding from 16 in the last edition of the tournament in 2022.

What is the prize money for the T20 World Cup 2024? 

The ICC have allocated a record sum of about INR 93.74 Crores (USD 11.25 million) as the prize money for this T20 World Cup 2024, with the winners taking home approximately INR 20.41 crores (USD 2.45 million).

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice remarked on the significance of the record prize money, saying:

“This event is historic in so many ways, so it is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that. Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be entertained by the players in what we’re hoping to be an Out of This World event.” 

How much prize money will T20 World Cup 2024 winners take home?

Here is a breakdown of how much prize money each team will pocket from the T20 World Cup 2024:

The runners-up will earn at least INR 10.6 Crores (USD 1.28 million), while the losing semi-finalists will take home INR 6.56 Crores (USD 787,500) each. Teams that do not advance past the second round will receive INR 3.18 Crores (USD 382,500) each, and those finishing between ninth and 12th place will get INR 2.62 Crores USD (247,500) each.

Teams ranking from 13th to 20th place will each earn INR 1.88 Crores (USD 225,000). Additionally, every team will receive an extra money of about INR 26 Lakhs or USD 31,154 for each match won, excluding the semi-finals and finals.
