What happens if the Test Championship final is affected by rain?

Considering the unpredictable weather in England, the rain factor cannot be ruled especially in the month of June.

Keeping that in mind ICC have kept a reserve day for the Test Championship final. The match will be held between June 7 to June 11 and June 12 has been identified as the reserve day.

But ICC has also informed that if time is lost during the regulation days due to bad weather only then can the reserve day be utilised. If the match happens on all five days and no result comes out then the match will not go into the reserve day and instead India and Australia will be declared joint winners.

In a statement, ICC confirmed the following rule which read:

A reserve day is in place for the WTC Final on June 12 and can be used to make up for any loss of playing time during the five scheduled days, not to keep playing until one side wins.

Recently the IPL 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans was affected due to torrential downpour in Ahmedabad.
