Reebok is looking to get back into basketball in a major way, officially announcing their two greatest signature athletes are returning to the brand in leadership roles.

Shaquille O'Neal has been named the new president of basketball for Reebok, with Allen Iverson named as VP.

Speaking to Boardroom, the former Lakers legend said that his role with Reebok would mainly revolve around facilitating relationships with players, hoping to build the brand up to its former glory in the hoops world.

"A big part of my role will be leveraging my network to build bridges, connect the brand with players, and help those players develop through their partnership with Reebok," O’Neal said.

"We just want to do things differently, that’s what we were best known for back then and what we want to stay true to now.

“AI is a founding father of Reebok Basketball and has left a lasting impact on the game and its surrounding culture, there is no one I’d rather work with to bring in a new generation of ballers to Reebok than him. Shaq and AI back at it – feels good.”

Reebok left its previous Adidas ownership group in March of 2022, and was acquired by Authentic Brands Group, and has now expressed a desire to re-enter the basketball sphere, spearheaded by the appointments of two of the sport's most iconic players to top jobs.

Do any NBA players wear Reebok?

Currently, there are no NBA players signed exclusively to Reebok.

A number of players still wear throwback Reebok models, including Philadelphia 76ers forward Montrezl Harrell, who was signed with the brand at one point and has consistently worn pairs from Iverson's signature line, albeit mixed with a number of different brands.

Former notable Reebok NBA athletes included the aforementioned O'Neal and Iverson, as well as Shawn Kemp, John Wall, Sam Cassell, Dominique Wilkins, Dee Brown, and Mugsy Bogues.

However, Reebok is reportedly close to announcing their first signing under the new regime, according to Reebok CEO Todd Krinsky.

"We’re about to announce our first partnerships, that [O'Neal has] been very passionate about,” Krinsky said.

"He called me with an idea that he thought would be perfect to kick this thing off. Two weeks later, we were all in New York meeting with this person and now we’re getting ready to announce."
