Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has opted to leave his role as France U21 head coach with immediate effect.

The former Gunners striker took on the role in August 2023, following stints in France and Canada and two spells in the Belgium national team set up, in a stellar appointment for Les Bleus.

Alongside his role with the U21 team, Henry was also tasked with leading the U23 team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, earlier this summer.

Henry's side came up short in the final, as Spain claimed the gold medal and the host nation secured a silver, in their first medal in the event since 1984.

Despite being under contract until June 2025, Henry's resignation to the FFF has been accepted, as he looks for a new challenge in in his coaching career.

"We obviously regret this decision because Thierry Henry was able to achieve the objectives that had been set for him by winning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, 40 years after the Olympic medal in Los Angeles", stated FFF president Philippe Diallo.

"Having followed him throughout this campaign, I was able to see his great professionalism, rigor and love of the blue jersey. We wish him good luck for the rest of his career."

Henry is expected to take some time to assess his options before deciding on his next career move.
