Regardless of the result on August 20, we are set to see a new name engraved on the Women's World Cup trophy, as Spain and England are playing in their first final in the tournament's history.

It is the first time two European sides have made the final since 2003, and it will mark the first time we will see world champions from Europe crowned since Germany in 2007.

Spain have made the final despite missing some of their best players due to a dispute with coach Jorge Vilda and the Spanish Football Federation, whilst England have remained unbeaten at the tournament despite being without captain Leah Williamson and star striker Beth Mead due to injury.

Will Spain win their first ever piece of major silverware, or will England complete the continental and world championship double?

Spain vs England betting odds

As expected in a World Cup final, there is very little to split these two sides, but Spain are considered marginal favourites — something that may surprise some given their off-the-field issues and loss to Japan.

With both teams going to extra time once in the tournament, there is a decent chance the same could be seen in the final in Sydney.
