At 32, Canelo Alvarez has seemingly done it all in boxing. The current undisputed super middleweight champion's name oozes greatness, as he has been on multiple pound-for-pound lists over the years.

Given injuries and a lack of new significant challengers down the road, can Canelo be known as the face of boxing?

He will look to prove that against John Ryder on May 6. Returning from surgery, Canelo competes in his first fight in his home of Mexico since 2011. Fighting in Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, family and friends have come in droves to celebrate him. It will feel like a massive party, but will fight fans all over the world be willing to shell out PPV money to see Canelo vs. Ryder?

Is the boxing world Canelo’d out? Has his spot on top been taken over by Gervonta Davis, following his win over Ryan Garcia, or does Canelo only need a significant challenge to remain the face that runs the place?

Canelo may be on the right track following the Ryder fight. If he wins, the options in front of him are David Benavidez and a rematch against WBA (Regular) light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. Bivol, who beat him soundly last time they fought, appears more technically sound, has a great jab, and a solid defensive game. Does he have to take that bout?

That last question is important, even if other fighters at 160 and 168 may not be Canelo’s cup of tea. Bouts against Jermall Charlo and Demetrius Andrade could help his case. If he stays in his weight class, Canelo’s resume speaks for itself as he enters the back nine of his career.

Speaking of golf, NBA star Damian Lillard believes he is playing too much of it. With wear and tear a factor, does he have a point?

On this episode of Fightin’ Words, The Sporting News' Andreas Hale and Karisa Maxwell discuss these topics and give their predictions for Canelo vs. Ryder.
