Boxing’s hot 2023 continues with a unique super fight in Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo on September 30. Charlo, the undisputed super welterweight champion, moves up two weight classes to face the undisputed champion at super middleweight.

The fight, in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, airs on Showtime PPV. It features two dominant champions, one who boxes regularly and one who is just coming off surgery. Outside of that bout, one dream matchup that has circulated around the internet is Canelo vs. undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

Is this a fight that needs to be made?

On paper and social media, it would be considered one of the biggest fights in boxing. The names alone will bring in plenty of fans. But is it necessary? Both fighters have multiple contenders in their division waiting to fight for gold. There is also the issue regarding weight.
