One of the most enchanting traditions of the Masters Tournament is the annual Par 3 Contest, which will take place Wednesday starting at noon ET.
The golfer who has the most favorable score against par after nine holes is declared the winner. However, no winner of the Par 3 Contest has ever gone on to triumph in the Masters in the same year.

It's a laid-back event compared to the main tournament, and many contestants don't even keep score. They often allow their loyal caddies to attempt a pitch or putt on the lavish greens.
The inaugural exhibition was held in 1960 and won by Sam Snead. The holes, ranging from 90 to 155 yards, play over DeSoto Springs Pond and Ike's Pond. There have been 107 holes-in-one made over the years, including a record nine in 2016.
