The 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline finally is almost here and fans should be keeping a close eye on the Atlanta Braves.

Atlanta has had a rough season injury-wise and yet it currently holds the top National League Wild Card spot. The Braves have a real chance to make some noise in the postseason thanks to their superb depth, but making one big addition at the deadline wouldn't hurt.

One player who could be traded and would make a lot of sense for the Braves is Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet. The 25-year-old has been one of the most talked about trade candidates because of the fact that Chicago is approaching a rebuild.

Crochet has shined this season and has a 3.05 ERA in 17 starts to go along with a league-leading 130 strikeouts. The reason why he is such a hot commodity is the fact that he has top-of-the-rotation upside and is under team control until 2027.

If he ends up actually getting moved, the Braves should be involved in the sweepstakes. Atlanta lost ace Spencer Strider to an injury and hasn't been at full strength this season. Adding someone like Crochet could add another dynamic arm to the rotation down the stretch while also helping the team out for years to come.

The price tag to acquire Crochet would be high prospect-wise, but financially not as much as some of the other players who could be available.

The National League is having a down year so the Braves should have a solid chance of making a deep run. Adding someone like Crochet could help put the club over the top.

A move certainly should be considered unlikely at this point, but Crochet is the type of player the Braves need to help significantly boost the rotation.
