The Atlanta Braves have been solid so far but 2024 hasn't been their year.

Atlanta entered the season with high hopes and still is in a position to fight for a playoff spot, but it is missing some of its most important pieces due to injuries. Ronald Acuña Jr., Spencer Strider, Ozzie Albies, and Reynaldo López all are out right now to name a few.

The Braves still currently hold a playoff spot and could even surprise some people, but it's going to be tough to make a deep playoff run without that star power in the near future. Atlanta was busy around the trade deadline, though, and made some solid moves to help add depth in areas where injuries are the worst.

While this is the case, FanSided's Zach Pressnell said that Darius Vines is someone who the Braves "should've traded" to try to add even more depth rather than designating him for assignment.

"Atlanta Braves, RHP Darius Vines," Pressnell said. "Vines is blocked in the Braves system by a ton of pitching talent. He's still 26, so despite his big-league struggles, he still holds value as a change-of-scenery candidate. Instead, the Braves opted to DFA him."

He wasn't great in the Braves' farm system before the move, but Atlanta could've at least tried to include him in a deal to see if it could've gotten anything for him. The Braves still are in a good position, but things are going to be tough throughout the rest of the season due to injuries.
