The 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline now is just a few hours away.
There already has been a plethora of moves with the deadline approaching. It has been one of the more active trade deadlines in recent years and the Detroit Tigers have been one of the most talked about clubs in baseball.
Detroit is open for business and it's widely expected that starter Jack Flaherty is going to get moved before the deadline. There also has been plenty of speculation about the future of superstar Tarik Skubal.
Skubal is one of the best pitchers in baseball and widely is expected to win the 2024 American League Cy Young Award. He has developed into a true superstar and is under team control after this season.
Because of this fact, some have wondered if he could be moved. If he were to get traded, though, the cost would be astronomical. It doesn't seem like a move is coming, though, as FanSided's Robert Murray expects him to stick around with Detroit.
"While the Detroit Tigers are expected to trade Jack Flaherty, rival executives expect star pitcher Tarik Skubal to remain in Detroit," Murray said.
Skubal is one of the best pitchers in baseball and a trade involving him could help expedite a rebuild because of the volume of top prospects that would be brought back to town. While this is the case, don't expect to see a trade soon.
