If the Atlanta Braves want to have a real chance of winning a World Series title in 2024 they will need to address the starting rotation this summer.
Atlanta is one of the deepest teams in baseball and has been able to stay afloat despite multiple high-impact injuries. The Braves currently hold the top National League Wild Card spot with an impressive 47-38 record.
The Braves could end up making some noise this summer but a strong trade deadline seems like a necessity. One player who could be an underrated option to bolster the rotation is Los Angeles Angels All-Star Tyler Anderson.
It's unclear exactly what the Braves will do, but Anderson was mentioned as one of the top starting pitching options available by MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
"Anderson is in the second year of his three-year, $39 million deal with the Angels, posting significantly better numbers than he did in 2023," Feinsand said. "The left-hander has a 3.03 ERA in 17 starts (104 innings) this season, ranking in the top 20 percent of the league when it comes to soft contact (average exit velocity and hard-hit percentage). Anderson is earning $13 million this season and carries the same salary in 2025, making him a reasonable addition for contenders seeking a controllable arm."
If the Braves want to add, Anderson is someone who could help in 2024 as well as 2025. He is having a fantastic season so far and would go a long way in helping the Braves this summer.
