Could Jon Jones' next fight be his last?

The UFC heavyweight champion has been out of action since winning the vacant title in March 2023 with a submission win over former interim champion Ciryl Gane.

Jones is expected to return on November 16 against former champion Stipe Miocic, who many consider the greatest heavyweight in MMA history, at UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

In an interaction with a fan on social media, Jones, who is 37, teased retirement and seemed to indicate he could retire after his fight with Miocic.

“Fun fact after this year Jon Jones will never have to work again,” Jones wrote. “Retired at age 37. Winning.”

There has long been speculation that Jones would move to heavyweight, win the title, defend it once, and then hang up his gloves.

If he sticks to the plan that has been widely shared by coaches and teammates, his expected bout in November could very well be the last time we see him in the cage.

Of course, Jones has also been known to troll fans on social media, so perhaps he was just having some fun.

What we do know, however, is MMA fans would be robbed of an anticipated Jones vs. Tom Aspinall fight if he decides to call it a career.
