Chandler has not fought since November 2022, when he suffered a submission loss to Poirier, so a title fight doesn't make sense, especially with guys like Armen Tsurukyan and Mateusz Gamrot coming off of big wins over former champs.
Michael Chandler is still looking for a fight.
Chandler, who was scheduled to face Conor McGregor at UFC 303 before McGregor withdrew from the bout with a broken toe, is stuck in limbo.
Many MMA veterans and analysts have told Chandler to move on, but he still hopes the fight will happen.
Chandler took to social media to say he would love to fight Conor McGregor at The Sphere in Las Vegas in September, but if not, he claims a title fight has been offered.

"I've been offered [Islam Makhachev] in October -- but if [Conor McGregor's] little pinky toe is ready by September, let's do [The Sphere]," Chandler wrote on X.
"Biggest sporting event in history of sports!!!"
Chandler taunted Makhachev after his title fight offer claim.
Makhachev eventually responded to Chandler, calling McGregor his "master" and saying the former Bellator champion is unreliable.
"You are unreliable dude, one tweet from your master, and you’ll run away," Makhachev wrote. "Champ needs real opponent."
