The Toronto Raptors added an electric but erratic young guard to the mix, drafting Baylor shooting guard Ja’Kobe Walter at No. 19 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Walter, 6-foot-5 and 195 pounds, was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and an All-Big 12 pick in 2023-24 as he averaged 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals but shot a mind-numbing 37.6 percent from the field.
Even worse? Walter did that as he started all 35 games for the Bears and averaged 32.4 minutes per game — and only averaged 1.4 assists.
The Atlanta Hawks selected French wing Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 overall pick. It was the second consecutive year the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft came from France following Victor Wembanyama in 2023.
