The Chicago Bears have a real chance to take a big step forward in 2024.

Chicago had an up-and-down 2023 season but retooled the roster this offseason and now look significantly better on paper. The Bears drafted phenom Caleb Williams to take over the starting quarterback spot for years to come and put more weapons around him by landing Keenan Allen and D'Andre Swift among other moves.

The Bears should be in a significantly better place this season and some have even speculated that they could make their way to the postseason.

It's far too early to tell, but if the season doesn't go well, changes could be on the way. Matt Eberflus currently is the Bears' head coach but he was listed by Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon as a coach possibly on the hot seat.

"The Chicago Bears went from three wins in 2022 to seven in 2023 and are now fully expected to make a similar jump with Caleb Williams and enhanced talent on both sides of the ball in 2024," Gagnon said. "And it's possible there will be some leeway for head coach Matt Eberflus in his third season because of that aforementioned trajectory as well as the fact they'll want this staff to find a groove with Williams, Rome Odunze and Co.

"But keep in mind that Eberflus is a defensive guy, and so he doesn't necessarily have to be tied closely to the rookie No. 1 overall pick. The Bears have to continue to make strides on both sides of the ball. Another losing season likely means they pull the plug on Eberflus. Temperature: Just above room temperature."

Chicago certainly has improved under Eberflus so it would be surprising to see a change get made but it can't be ruled out.
