With preseason coming to a close and the NFL regular season on the horizon, many rookies look to take their talents towards the real thing. While some young players still have yet to get acclimated, others looked ready to start from week one, and two Denver Broncos did just that.
Quarterback Bo Nix and outside linebacker Jonah Elliss displayed their talents and tremendous skill sets, which ultimately placed them on Pro Football Focus' Preseason All-Rookie Team.
Drafted 12th-overall by the Denver Broncos out of Oregon, Bo Nix has been nothing short of spectacular. In two out of the three preseason games for the Broncos, Nix went 23/30 on throws for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Despite the limited amount of snaps, Nix was able to secure the starting job for Denver through his tremendous play and leadership all throughout practices and camp.
In the third round of the 2024 draft, the Denver Broncos selected Jonah Elliss with the 76th-overall pick from the University of Utah. During Elliss' preseason snaps, he totaled seven total tackles (four solo), two sacks, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Elliss' tenacity and aggressiveness is what helped the Broncos go undefeated in the preseason and place his name amongst the best rookies in the league.
With the help of these elite rookies, this young Broncos team will be a matchup nightmare for any team. As long as everyone stays healthy and continues to get better, the future of Denver football is looking bright.
