Winning back-to-back Super Bowls is difficult, putting the Chiefs in elite NFC championship company. Taking home three rings in a row would turn Kansas City's dominance into a legendary dynasty.

Sporting News is predicting that will happen after the 2024 season. The Chiefs are the heavy favorites again, and there should be every expectation they come through as a preseason pick.

Patrick Mahomes is now 3-1 in Super Bowls. The Chiefs have replaced the Patriots as an AFC championship game fixture, having been to six straight title tilts. Kansas City has racked up four conference crowns in six seasons.

Chiefs three-peat: Why Chiefs will beat Lions in Super Bowl 59

That Chiefs' streak will be hard to slow down. Then it comes to just them winning two more big games, at home (likely) and in New Orleans for Super Bowl 59 on Feb. 9.

There's reason to believe the Chiefs are a better team than last year. They still have health and clutch experience on their side. They should get better blocking with more pop from an upgraded wide receiver corps for Mahomes. Defensive tackle Chris Jones and tight end Travis Kelce decided to both come back to run it back as part of their core thee.

It's also remarkable that Andy Reid has been able to retain ace defensive coordinator Steve Spagnulo for this run. Reid is still calling the plays with Matt Nagy in his comfortable role as the offensive coordinator in Kansas City. Long-time special teams coach Dave Toub can't be forgotten as the Chiefs also do their things well kicking, punting returning.

No team has fewer concerns. No team has Mahomes. The Chiefs are better equipped to build on last season's success even more than how they followed up 2022's Super Bowl run. They'll get another walkover in an otherwise transitional AFC West and regain the all-important No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs to once again facilitate winning the Super Bowl.

For their six rings with Brady, the Patriots beat five NFC opponents, including the Rams twice. The Chiefs have beaten the 49ers twice and the Eagles once are headed to more variety in denying a strong NFC contender Super Bowl victory.

That team this time is not the 49ers or Eagles, but the Lions, who started off on their breakout seasons as NFC runners-up by beating the Chiefs in Kansas City to kick off last season.

The Lions looked like they would have an opening and closing date vs. the same team, but that was ruined by the 49ers rallying from 17 points down to win the NFC championship game. Now, that upstart Detroit team knows more about how to win big and will be ready to roar a little more.

The AFC has some dangerous teams, too, but between the Bills, Ravens, Bengals, and others, there are enough flaws to keep them from getting the better of Mahomes, even with equal elite QB play. The 49ers and Eagles pushed the Chiefs to the limit. The Lions are built to do the same thing.

The Chiefs, as long as they have Mahomes, will be the default first choice to be predicted as Super Bowl winners. They remain looking good to win rings at an even more superior rate than the Patriots.
