The San Francisco 49ers have been in the news lately for the wrong reasons.

There has been speculation left and right about the future of star receiver Brandon Aiyuk. The contract talks -- and possible trade rumors -- have overshadowed the offseason. Hopefully, Aiyuk remains with the team, but no matter what, the 49ers are built to win in 2024.

San Francisco is loaded with talent on both sides of the football and has a real shot to get back to the Super Bowl after losing against the Kansas City Chiefs last season.

It certainly won't be an easy road, but former 49ers great and Super Bowl champion Vernon Davis thinks they have a real chance of getting over the hump in 2024.

"I think the San Francisco 49ers have a legitimate chance of winning the Super Bowl, I really do," Davis said. "Especially if they're going to continue to keep all of the players that they had from last year. I think they have a good nucleus of guys who will be around. Whether you take some guys away, I think they're still going to be good based on the quarterback they have in place. It's hard to find a great quarterback. We know what they have in (Brock Purdy). Great quarterback and he's only going to get better. He's shown that over time. I'm excited to see his growth as he continues to play the game of football."

San Francisco has been one of the best teams in football over the last few seasons but hasn't been able to get over the hump yet. The 49ers took another major step in that direction last season and seem prepared to take another step in 2024, no matter what happens with Aiyuk.

Davis was a star on the field with the 49ers and certainly has been busy off of it since announcing his retirement in 2020. The two-time Pro Bowler has a memoir documenting his life both on and off the field coming out called "Playing Ball" which is sure to be a hit.
