The Game4Ukraine charity match will be taking place on Saturday, August 5 as football legends and celebrities come together for the cause.

Arsenal and Ukraine defender Oleksandr Zinchenko organised the event alongside former Chelsea, AC Milan and Ukraine striker, Andriy Shevchenko. They have been supported by Chelsea and United24, a charity launched by president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to collect donations for the country.

Their aim is to raise money to help rebuild schools in Ukraine that have been damaged or destroyed during the Russian invasion. They will start with the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynskyi School in the Chernihiv Oblast, which was hit by missiles on March 4, 2022.

There will also be musical performances before the match, during halftime, and after the game is done. The likes of Tom Grennan, The Pretenders, and Tom Walker will all be performing at the event.

Where is Game4Ukraine being played?

A Premier League stadium is ideal for the event due to the number of legends and celebrities on show, as well as the musical guests. Due to Chelsea's involvement in supporting the event, Stamford Bridge will be hosting the match.

The home of Chelsea has hosted charity matches in the past. The 2019 Soccer Aid fixture took place in London, although the 2022 edition was moved away from the venue due to former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Who are the coaches for Game4Ukraine?

Although the team rosters are based on the careers of Shevchenko and Zinchenko, they will not be managing their respective sides.

Chelsea Women's manager Emma Hayes will be taking charge of the Blue Team at Stamford Bridge. She led Chelsea to the domestic double last season, taking her remarkable haul of major trophies to 14.

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be managing the Yellow Team at the event. He has of course managed the likes of Lehmann, Wilshere and Clichy during his time with the Gunners.
