The final major tennis grand slam of 2024 is here, and for US fans of the sport, there's no bigger event than the US Open from Queens in New York City. Taking place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, this year's edition of the tournament will be the 144th since the Open's inauguration all the way back in 1881.

Novak Djokovic is the defending US Open champion coming into this year's tournament, having beaten Daniil Medvedev 6-3 7-6 6-3 in the 2023 final to lift his fourth title at Queens – a first since 2018 and the Serbian's 24th grand slam overall. He's seeded second behind world number one Jannik Sinner, after completing a Golden Slam with his first Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games last month.

Sinner and third seed Carlos Alcaraz will be Djokovic's biggest rivals as he goes for a fifth title at the USTA National Tennis Center, with the latter defeating the 37-year-old in straight sets to win the Wimbledon final in July. Top seeds Djokovic and Sinner start as far apart in the draw as possible, while Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul, Sebastian Korda and Frances Tiafoe will all be carrying the weight of US expectation at their home grand slam.

The Sporting News is on hand to bring you all the latest TV schedule information, live stream and start times for the 144th US Open tournament, which gets underway with the first round on Monday, August 26.
