WATCH: Dustin Rhodes, Von Erichs ROH 6-man title belt win and heartfelt speech

Dustin Rhodes is a champion once again.

For the first time in 14 tries, dating back to when he and his brother Cody - wrestling as Goldust and Stardust - lost their WWE tag-team championships to Damien Mizdow and The Miz at Survivor Series 2014, Rhodes has championship gold to tie around his waist. Wrestling at the AEW Battle of the Belts XI and for the second time in two nights, Rhodes was teamed up with the Von Erich brothers, Marshall and Ross, in a six-man tag match.

The team dispatched the group of Alex Reynolds & Evil Uno & John Silver a night earlier at Death Before Dishonor 2024 to earn the shot against Undisputed Kingdom, which includes the current tag-team champions Matt Taven and Mike Bennett. After being triple teamed in the ring, Rhodes was almost pinned but the Von Erichs got in the ring just in time for the same. After the Kingdom tried to bring title belts into the ring with the ref stopping them, Rhodes got hit with his cowbell and all seemed lost. Somehow he kicked out and eventually the had a chance to land the Loch Ness and earn the pinfall for the title.

Following the match, the kayfabe came down as Rhodes efused praise for all of the support he's received over his 36-year career, waxing poetic about the legacy of the two families who now shared in a championship. With Kevin Von Erich in the ring to help celebrate, it was an emotional moment for he and his sons as the Von Erichs story is one wrought with tragedy and heartbreak and is one that encapsulates the mental anguish of the wrestling world. To see he, his sons and the elder of Dusty Rhodes' sons be able to celebrate together was a great moment in wrestling.
