It appears that Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, has gotten herself in trouble with the brass over at All Elite Wrestling. Currently in a storyline feud with CEO Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks in her time with the WWE, Baker has apparently been hit with a suspension of unknown length but expected to be either one or two weeks.
The cause? Apparently there were some backstage shenanigans with current International United States champion Maxwell Jacob Freidman, known as MJF. MJF is the biggest draw for the AEW and some are wondering what could have transpired that led to Baker's forced time out.
The details were reported by Dave Meltzer, a noted scoopman for the wrestling world via his Wrestling Observer podcast. While Meltzer himself didn't tweet the news, several wrestling outfits are crediting him with the scoop delivered on his WON subscription podcast. They've related the story as follows:
- During the July 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, Baker said something derogatory about MJF while backstage
- MJF's girlfriend, Alicia Atout, overheard the comments and relayed them to MJF
- MJF confronted Baker about what she said
- The matter was brought to AEW's Human Resources department who had a meeting about it on July 24
- It is unknown whether or not big boss Tony Khan was involved in the decision to suspend Baker.
Baker has only recently returned to the ring, with her July 24 'Blood and Guts' victory over Hikaru Shida was her first match since losing a AEW TBS Championship match to Kris Statlander in September 2023.
