Another matchup between two strong programs — Stanford and Minnesota — will round out an exciting start to the 2024 women's college volleyball season.
The Cardinal and Golden Gophers will meet on the first day of the inaugural Women's College Volleyball Showcase. The two last battled early in the 2023 season, when Stanford defeated Minnesota in four sets. Competitors Wisconsin and Texas will also join the showcase in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sunday and Monday

Stanford vs. Minnesota volleyball will start at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 1. The match will be played at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
Stanford is coming off a strong 2023 season, which it closed out with a 29-4 record and its 42nd NCAA tournament appearance in 43 seasons. The Cardinal advanced to the regional final but fell to eventual champion Texas in four sets. The program lost multiple strong competitors at the end of the season, including back-to-back Pac-12 player of the year Kendall Kipp and outside hitter Caitie Baird, but returning setter Kami Miner is expected to bring great leadership to the squad.
The Golden Gophers are currently ranked No. 18 in the AVCA poll after an average 17-13 finish last fall. The team has been working on rebuilding since Keegan Cook came aboard in late 2022, replacing long-time coach Hugh McCutcheon, who brought the program to three national semifinal appearances in his 10 years. This season will be the time for new Minnesota talent to emerge, as All-Big Ten accolade winners Taylor Landfair and Kylie Murr have left the program.
