Tennessee Baseball's funny 'concussion' tweet cringy too after fantastic catch

Humor is always in the eye of the beholder.

Center fielder Kavares Tears of the Tennessee Volunteers made a heck of a catch during their 7-2 victory over the Florida State Seminoles in the 2024 Men’s College World Series today to advance to the Championship Series.

The official Tennessee Baseball account was understandably stoked.

Hilarious? Absolutely.

It’s also a little cringy too given how concussions and CTE are a major part of football at every level, especially in the heart of SEC college football country.

Yes, you can call me a wimp or other more aggressive profanities for even mentioning it. My counter would be that many lives have been permanently ruined by concussions and CTE, and it’s a risk that every football player (and his parents) knowingly understand when he decides (with his parents' blessing) to play America’s modern pastime.

Look no further than former Alabama star and Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. His career almost ended after the viral scary hit against the Cincinnati Bengals in Sept. 2022. Concussion protocol continues to be a hot-button issue on how it’s handled in the NFL, the SEC, and all the way down at every level of football.

Again, a fantastic catch. And yes, amongst friends, probably a great bar line while watching the game. Maybe not the best tweet from the official Vols baseball account.

I’ll let you decide.
