India beat Pakistan by 228 runs in their first match of the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four stage on Monday at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Upon winning the toss, Babar Azam put the opposition to bat. India got off to a flying start as openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put up a 121-run partnership.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then started to stitch a partnership when rain affected the day's play. The match resumed again on Reserve Day, that is Monday.
India did not lose a wicket on the second day as Kohli and Rahul went on to hit unbeaten centuries as India posted a formidable total of 356 runs.
While chasing, the Pakistani batting lineup crumbled;ed under pressure and were bowled out for just 128 runs.

Shubman Gill (8/10): The young opener got off to a fiery start but failed to convert it into a big score. He got out for 58 in 52 balls. But it was his initial onslaught that caught Pakistan's fiery pace attack off-guard and handed India the momentum.
Rohit Sharma (8/10): Like Gill, the Indian captain also got off to a dream start but faltered midway as he was dismissed for 56 runs off 49 balls. He absolutely took Shadab Khan apart, posing problems for Babar Azam.
Virat Kohli (10/10): The superstar of Indian cricket hit his 47th ODI hundred and 77th overall and remained not out 122 off 94 to power India to a resounding win. It was an absolutely terrific knock that showed the class and ability of a world class player.

KL Rahul (10/10): Rahul made a brilliant comeback to international cricket after a prolonged injury lay-off as he hit an important hundred. Rahul remained not out along with Kohli at 111 runs in 106 balls.
Ishan Kishan (5/10): Ishan Kishan had very little role to play in the match as he did not get a chance to bat and did not contribute much to the team while fielding.
Hardik Pandya (8/10): Got the all-important wicket of Pakistan captain and star batsman Babar Azam and leaked just 17 runs in 5 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja (6/10): Jadeja did not get a wicket today and was the most expensive among the Indian bowlers conceding 26 runs in 5 overs.
Shardul Thakur (7/10): Thakur picked up the crucial wicket of Mohammad Rizwan and conceded just 16 runs in four overs.
Kuldeep Yadav (10/10): With a fifer against Pakistan, Kuldeep Yadav was the peak of the Indian bowlers today. His leg-breaks and googlies posed a lot of questions to Pakistan batters who just could not read him.
Jasprit Bumrah (8/10): The first jolt to the Pakistani batting lineup came in Imam-ul-Haq's dismissal which was taken by Bumrah. He conceded 18 runs in 5 overs.
Mohammed Siraj (7/10): While Siraj did not get a wicket, he was economical conceding just 23 in the 5 overs he bowled.

The Indian team will be back in action against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
