All eyes were on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Harry Brook yesterday as he scored the first century of this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) to guide them to victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Brook scored 100 runs off 55 balls, hitting 12 fours and three sixes in the process, to help SRH put up a score of 228, which they successfully defended by beating KKR by 23 runs.

In his post-match interview, the English batsman bluntly called out Indian fans on social media who had been criticising him for the last few days, but would now suddenly be praising him for his performance.

Brook was one of the costliest buys in IPL this year and he had a slow start to the tournament which had sparked criticism.

What did Brooks say after his century?

After picking up his Man of the Match award for his century, Brook commented on both his performance and Indian fans criticism on social media:

"Was a special night. Thankfully we got over the line as well. Got a little tense in the middle. A lot of people say that opening the batting in T20 is the best time to bat. I'm happy to bat anywhere. I've had a lot of success batting at five. Made my name there. My four Test hundreds will have to be over this one. The crowd was phenomenal tonight. I enjoyed it. I was putting pressure on myself a little bit. You go on social media and people are calling you rubbish. There's a lot of Indian fans out there who'll say well done tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up to be honest."

The century naturally comes as a relief for the English batsman after all the criticism he has faced over the last few days. He was seen enjoying Indian delicacies such as Rasgulla in the post-match celebrations.

When do Sunrisers Hyderabad play next?

Sunrisers Hyderabad will next host Mumbai Indians at home on April 18 at 7:30 pm IST.
