One silver lining from Dodgers loss to Pirates

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost 1-0 on Tuesday. Their offense that still is not all the way back from some May woes struggled massively against Pittsburgh Pirates phenom. There is, at least, one positive to take away from a frustrating affair.

Tyler Glasnow was stellar. He'd been touched up a bit in his previous four starts, allowing four earned against Cincinnati, three against Arizona, and a pair against the Mets last week. His record over that trio was 0-2. Against his old mates in the Steel City, though, he was in top form.

Glasnow threw six innings, striking out nine and walking two against a Bucs squad that has been pretty decent with the sticks of late. Velocity & spin were each up a bit, perhaps due to pitching against the team that drafted him 13 years ago.

Within the start, Glasnow stranded 100 percent of baserunners and had Pirates hitters putting an absurd 69 percent of their contact on the ground. He forced whiffs at a 33 percent clip and was largely able to avoid hard contact against a team that sits seventh in HardHit%.

Of course, the only blemish on Glasnow's statline was the one that cost him. He surrendered a third inning homer to Jack Suwinski that came off the bat at 104 MPH & had a xBA of .810. With the Dodgers' struggles on the other side of the ball, it was a mistake that cost him.

Unfortunately for Glasnow, he'll continue his streak of winless outings. He hasn't recorded a W in the box score since May 4th. This time, however, it doesn't sit squarely on his shoulders.

That's an encouraging sign for Tyler Glasnow coming off a string of shaky outings. He faces a stern test in his next outing, though, as the schedule lines up for him to potentially face the New York Yankees in the Bronx on Sunday.
