The Detroit Tigers have been in trade rumors for months and it's clear that there are some moves on the horizon.
There was some excitement swirling around the Tigers early on this season but the club has struggled at times and clearly is looking like sellers ahead of the July 30th Major League Baseball trade deadline.
A handful of Tigers' players have been mentioned as trade options with veteran Jack Flaherty starter popping up most options. It has seemed like a foregone conclusion that Flaherty would be moved over the last month and that will end up being the case, according to the Detroit Free Press' Evan Petzold.
"The Tigers won't trade Tarik Skubal unless they receive a franchise-changing offer they can't refuse, but they plan to trade Jack Flaherty," Petzold said "The (Baltimore Orioles) fit as a trade partner for Skubal; the (Los Angeles Dodgers) fit as a trade partner for Flaherty."
Flaherty joined the Tigers in free agency this past offseason and he has been everything they could've hoped for. He has bounced back in a major way and has a 3.13 ERA in 17 starts this season.
The Tigers haven't lived up to expectations this season so although Flaherty has been great, his days with the team clearly are numbered. The trade deadline is less than a week away and there are plenty of contenders out there looking for help in the starting rotation. Flaherty will be one of the top starters available and should bring back a solid prospect haul to the Tigers ahead of the July 30th deadline.
