LeBron James and the Lakers will look to improve their position in the playoffs when they play the Pelicans in the NBA's regular-season finale on Sunday in New Orleans.

New Orleans can wrap up the No. 6 seed if it beats the Lakers and the Timberwolves beat the Suns.

Los Angeles has already clinched the Western Conference play-in round of the postseason, but is still looking to improve its position.

If the Lakers beat New Orleans, they will clinch the No. 8 seed in the play-in tournament and get two chances to win one game. No. 9 Sacramento and No. 10 Golden State are just a game behind Los Angeles.

Last season, the Lakers qualified for play-in game and then beat second-seeded Grizzlies and Warriors to advance the Western Conference finals, where they were swept by eventual NBA champion Denver.
