Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine is set for an extended spell on the sidelines, with the team announcing he is continuing to deal with a right foot inflammation.

LaVine has been inactive for the last three games - coinciding with the team's first three-game win streak of the season - but following their win over Charlotte Wednesday night, the Bulls announced their All-Star guard will be out until at least the New Year.

It's been a disappointing season for LaVine and the Bulls - he has averaged 21 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game across 18 appearances so far this season, but the team has won just five of these.

With increased trade speculation surrounding LaVine, this injury could mean the 28-year-old has played his last game in Bulls colors.

What is Zach LaVine's injury?

Zach LaVine is currently dealing with right foot inflammation.

He has carried the injury since at least the first of December when he was ruled out of the Bulls' game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

How long is Zach LaVine out?

After the Bulls win over the Hornets, LaVine's third missed game, the team announced that would be out for an additional three to four weeks.

This could see LaVine out of action until 2024, with the period between December 28 and January 4 the projected window for him to return.

If this is correct, LaVine will miss between 10 to 15 games of the Bulls' season, but with the current trade conjecture surrounding the former All-Star, it is conceivable that he never plays another game for Chicago again.
