Football is family, or so the saying goes. Sometimes that turn of phrase takes on literal meaning.

When tuning in for a North Dakota State Bison football game, you may notice WR Bryce Lance making plays. He isn't the first Lance to make plays in that uniform, as QB Trey Lance won two FCS national championships with the program before being selected No. 3 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The parallels are not just coincidental — family ties connect the two Bison players. Here is everything you need to know about the connection between Trey and Bryce Lance.

Is Bryce Lance related to Trey Lance?

Trey Lance is the older brother of Bryce Lance.

Trey Lance is entering his second season in Dallas and his fourth in the NFL. Trey was born on May 9, 2000, and is 24 years old. He spent three seasons at North Dakota State, where he wore No. 5.

Bryce Lance is a redshirt junior at North Dakota State. Bryce, who also dons No. 5 for the Bison, is three years younger than Trey.

The two look nearly identical in NDSU football photos, but the resemblance is also striking off the field. In addition to similar physical profiles, it's very evident that the two are brothers.

After playing a minimal role during his redshirt freshman and sophomore seasons, Bryce Lance appears poised to take on a larger role with the Bison in 2024. A breakout season would continue the standard of football excellence in the Lance family and allow the Bison to continue their dominance of FCS football.
