For the first time since 2009, the Kansas Jayhawks are in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 rankings

Kansas came in at No. 22 in the rankings released on Aug. 12 after finishing 2023 ranked No. 16 in the final AP Poll, which was the first time for the Jayhawks in the final rankings since finishing at No. 7 in 2007.

Kansas was one of five Big 12 Conference teams to make the AP Preseason Top 25 along with No. 12 Utah, No. 17 Oklahoma State, No. 18 Kansas State and No. 21 Arizona. Georgia was ranked No. 1 and defending national champion Michigan came in at No. 9.

Kansas is led by quarterback Jalon Daniels, who made the Davey O’Brien Award preseason watchlist after playing just three games in 2023. The Jayhawks open the season on Aug. 31 at home against Lindenwood.
