Kentucky begins its 2024 season under the lights against Southern Miss on Saturday evening.
The Wildcats tout a new quarterback: former five-star recruit Brock Vandagriff. A transfer from Georgia, Vandagriff spent three years as a backup for the Bulldogs behind Stetson Bennett and Carson Beck. He appeared in 13 games, going 12-for-21 with two touchdowns, but will be making his first career collegiate star Saturday night.
Saturday will also mark the Wildcat debut of running back Chip Trayanum, a transfer from Ohio State. With Trayanum, receiver Barion Brown, and receiver Dane Key (team-high 636 receiving yards last season), Vandagriff has plenty of options on offense.

Southern Miss took a step backwards last season, going 3-9 under then-third-year coach Will Hall. Now, entering his fourth season at the helm, Hall looks to rebound behind former Florida State quarterback Tate Rodemaker.
Rodemaker threw for 510 yards and five touchdowns last year in extended time for the Seminoles.
This marks the fifth all-time meeting between Kentucky and Southern Miss, with the Wildcats taking three of the previous four matchups.
