On offense, the primary intrigue lies under center. On Monday, when asked to name a starting quarterback, Moore said his staff would not name one until the end of the week. Senior Davis Warren and sophomore Alex Orji are the two candidates to replace two-year starter J.J. McCarthy, with both players poised to play in the opener.
The Bulldogs aren't your typical cupcake-style, Week 1 opponent. Fresno State has posted three consecutive nine-win seasons, each of which ended in a bowl win; they were picked to finish third in the Mountain West entering this season.
