Michigan State is one of the Big Ten’s most storied programs but is still searching for modern success amid a complete rebuild.
About a decade ago, the Spartans were a program on the rise under coach Mark Dantonio, which included Big Ten championships in 2013 and 2015, along with a Rose Bowl and College Football Playoff berth in that time.
However, since 2019, the program has experienced inconsistency, coupled with injuries, off-the-field issues, and a lack of depth at the quarterback position.
The Spartans will attempt to change those misfortunes under a new coach: Jonathan Smith. The former Oregon State coach replaces Mel Tucker, who was fired mid-season in what became a 4-8 campaign, a far cry from Spartan teams of the past.

The Spartans’ schedule is one of the more challenging in the Big Ten, which should make for an interesting season in East Lansing.

The Spartans' games will be called by long-time broadcaster George Blaha, who has been behind the mic for Michigan State for over 40 years. His long-ime partner, Jason Strayhorn, will join him, making it one of the most consistent duos in college football.
