Few college football teams enter the 2024 season with more promise — and pressure — than Ohio State.
Ryan Day's team is coming off three consecutive 11-2 seasons. But each of those years included a loss to the Buckeyes' archrival, Michigan, and lacked a Big Ten Conference title or College Football Playoff win. For the first time since the early 2000s, Ohio State finds itself squarely on the wrong side of the storied rivalry.
The Buckeyes reloaded over the offseason with an eye to change that perception. Day tapped into the transfer portal to acquire a new quarterback (Will Howard), running back (Quinshon Judkins), and defensive back (Caleb Downs).
Meanwhile, several draft-eligible players — including running back TreVeyon Henderson, defensive end Jack Sawyer, and defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau — opted to return to Columbus for one final season.
On paper, Ohio State appears primed to reassert itself, both in the Big Ten, and on the national scene. The Buckeyes entered the year as the No. 2 team in the AP Poll, trailing only Georgia.
If it doesn't work? Then Day could be staring down the prospects of four losses to Michigan in each of his first four seasons as head coach.

Longtime play-by-play voice Paul Keels is back for another season of Ohio State football. Keels first joined WBNS and the Ohio State Buckeyes Radio Network in 1998.
Keels is joined in the booth by his longtime color analyst, Jim Lachey, who is a former All-American for the Buckeyes.
Matt Andrews (sideline reporter) and Skip Mosic (host) round out the on-air team.
