On several fronts, the 2024 college football season marks a new era for USC.
Not only is Lincoln Riley's squad embarking on its first year in the Big Ten Conference, but the Trojans are also adjusting to life without Caleb Williams; the Heisman Trophy-winner and two-year starter leaves behind a sizable void.
The reins have been passed to redshirt junior Miller Moss, the backup quarterback for the last three seasons. Filling in for Williams in last December's Holiday Bowl, Moss tallied 372 yards and set a new Holiday Bowl record with six touchdowns. He has built on his performance with an impressive spring and summer, earning the starting nod.
But USC's schedule offers no respite for Moss, who will be thrown into the fire: Two of the Trojans' first three games are against No. 13 LSU and No. 9 Michigan.
On defense, USC turns to new defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn — hired in December from UCLA — in hopes of remedying a unit that has hamstrung the program in each of the last two seasons.

Pete Arbogast, the longtime Voice of the USC Trojans, returns to the radio booth for the 2024 season. Arbogast has called USC football since 2001, and also from 1989 to 1994.
