The San Francisco 49ers will have a tough decision to make in the near future.
San Francisco has been one of the best teams in football over the last few years but it seems like it is approaching a crossroads. The 49ers have had some great luck by hitting on draft picks but they could lose some core members of the organization soon as they start landing big contracts.
One player whose future is in question with the team is star receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He has developed into one of the top receivers in the league and will be a free agent at the end of the season so he is looking for a new deal now.
The 49ers have offered contracts, but the two sides haven't come to terms on a deal yet leading some to speculate that a trade could be on the horizon. Bleacher Report's Alex Kay put together a list of four possible track packages to land Aiyuk and mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers as a possible partner.
"San Francisco 49ers receive: 2025 first-round pick, (Tight End) Darnell Washington (and) Pittsburgh Steelers receive: (Wide Receiver) Brandon Aiyuk," Kay said. "The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to enter a new era after making multiple quarterback-related maneuvers this offseason. While the team should improve with Russell Wilson now under center, it still needs to find an elite wideout to pair with George Pickens to round out the passing attack.
"Adding Aiyuk into the mix would give Pittsburgh one of the most devastating receiving corps in football. The wideout has thrived in the same offense as another top-tier talent in Deebo Samuel during their time together in San Francisco and should have no problem continuing to dominate alongside Pickens."
It isn't a guarantee that Aiyuk will be moved and actually, a new deal with San Francisco should be considered the most likely option at this point. While this is the case, if the two sides don't come together on a deal soon, speculation likely will pick up even more.
