If the Las Vegas Raiders want to break their two-year streak of missing out on the playoffs in the first full year under head coach Antonio Pierce, they're going to have to get through a pretty tough schedule during the regular season.
According to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, who puts together every team's strength of schedule based on projected 2024 win totals from Vegas oddsmakers, the Raiders sport the ninth-toughest slate.
As compared to the rest of the AFC West, that is the second-most difficult schedule in the division, with only the Denver Broncos having a tougher slate. The Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs have the second- and 12th-easiest slates in the league, respectively.
If you want to take the less effective approach and calculate strength of schedule based on the combined 2023 records of Las Vegas' 2024 opponents, the Raiders are tied for the eighth-toughest schedule in the NFL, and the toughest in the division.
Of course, the Raiders have a total of 14 opponents in 2024. Of those 14, a whopping seven of them — the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers — made the playoffs in 2023.
Also, two other 2024 opponents — the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals — sported winning records last season.
The Raiders will open their season on the road on Sunday, Sept. 8, versus the Chargers. Las Vegas' entire upcoming schedule can be seen below.
