The Chicago Bears could end up being a playoff team in 2024.

Chicago has completely re-tooled the roster this offseason and appears to be in a significantly better place than it was on paper. The Bears drafted phenom Caleb Williams, traded for Keenan Allen, and signed D'Andre Swift.

The Bears' offense should be significantly improved in 2024, but the team still should be considering ways to add depth.

Chicago doesn't have much depth behind Williams so adding a veteran backup could make a lot of sense. The Bears have been linked to a few options and one player who could make some sense is Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills.

Houston has C.J. Stroud as the franchise quarterback and also has Case Keenum on the roster. Mills is expendable and even was mentioned by NFL Trade Rumors' Logan Ulrich as a player on the trade block.

"Mills is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has shown he can be a competent placeholder in the past," Ulrich said. "The Texans are set with veteran backup Case Keenum and could look to cash in Mills for a pick instead of hoping they get lucky with the compensatory formula."

The 25-year-old is entering his fourth year in the NFL and has shown some flashes when he's gotten an opportunity. Chicago could make it back to the postseason in 2024 but an injury to Williams could ruin those hopes. Adding a backup like Mills at least could help in that case.
