Washington Commanders fans were thrilled that their team was not part of Pro Football Network's eight worst quarterback situations leading into the 2024 NFL season.

Fans are all too familiar with these lists because the Commanders have been on them often in recent years.  Before training camp in 2023, Bleacher Report called the Commanders' Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett quarterback room the seventh worst in the NFL.

The changing of the guard is occurring in Washington. It centers around the No. 2 overall pick, rookie Jayden Daniels.  Daniels won the QB1 position in a friendly competition with veteran Marcus Mariota who will be his backup.

Daniels has a lot of pressure on his shoulders as he leads this retooled team after its disappointing 4-13 record in 2023.  Dan Quinn is the new head coach.  There is a good mix of young and veteran position players on the roster including notable veterans, running back Austin Ekeler and wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

Daniels knows that football is a team effort.  He recently emphasized that point when he said:  At the end of the day, it takes a team to help people out. I can't go out there and think I am the savior."

While Daniels is correct, the NFL is a quarterback focused league so the microscope will be on him.
