Arsenal and Mikel Arteta continue to look to bolster their squad as the 2023 summer transfer window approaches.

The Gunners are currently second in the Premier League but could still win the title with four games to go. They are one point behind Manchester City, but have also played a game more than the reigning champions.

The north London side are seeking reinforcements to improve their squad and reach a similar depth to Pep Guardiola's City. They have already been linked with Declan Rice, Marc Guehi and Moussa Diaby.

The Sporting News takes a closer look at Diaby and where he could be playing next season.

Who is Moussa Diaby?

Diaby is a 23-year-old forward who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

The France international operates on the right wing for his side and possesses a lot of pace and dribbling ability. He progressed through the Paris Saint-Germain youth setup before playing for the senior team in 2018, leaving for Germany in 2019.

He has played for France as every level from the U-18s onwards, making 10 appearances for the national team so far. Diaby was named in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship Team of the Tournament where France managed to reach the semi-final.

The diminutive winger has started adding goals to his game, increasing his value further.

Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing Diaby in January after a deal for Mykhailo Mudryk fell through. Leverkusen did not want to sell the player as they sought to set a bigger price tag in the summer.

According to German journalist Patrick Berger, Leverkusen will want at close to £70 million for the young star along with significant bonuses. The Bundesliga side signed the forward for just £13.2m from PSG.

A transfer for that much money could put a lot of pressure on the player, with wingers such as Antony and Mudryk feeling the heat.

Although Arsenal have shown interest in the winger, other Premier League clubs are also keeping tabs on him. Newcastle United were linked with Diaby last summer but were reportedly put off by the demands from Leverkusen.

Manchester United, who could be looking for players to replace Anthony Martial, have also been looking at Diaby. Real Madrid want to add more depth to their attack as Carlo Ancelotti does not have a good enough replacement for Vinicius Junior. Los Blancos have had Diaby on their radar for a few months.

With Lionel Messi and Neymar both seemingly on their way out, PSG are considering a deal for their former player. However, they may be unwilling to buy Diaby back for a big price after selling him for a low value.
