The Eagles opened up the preseason with a 16-13 win at Baltimore. Kenny Pickett saw the majority of work at QB, and starter Jalen Hurts did not play.

Pickett completed 14 of 22 passes for 89 yards and a TD to former Clemson running back Will Shipley. Kicker Jake Elliott made a 49-yard field goal as time expired to secure the win.

The Patriots played their first game since 2000 without Bill Belichick as head coach in the win over Carolina. New England was dominant defensively in Jerod Mayo’s head coaching debut. The Pats recorded five sacks and held the Panthers to 151 yards of total offense.

Unlike many starting QBs, C.J. Stroud played for Houston and connected with RB Tank Dell for a TD pass in a 20-12 win over Pittsburgh. This was the second preseason tilt for Houston, which opened up preseason play with a loss to Chicago in the Hall of Fame Game.

The Giants defeated the Lions, 14-3, in their opener last Thursday. Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock split QB duties for New York. Starting QB Daniel Jones did not play, and rookie WR Malik Nabers suffered a minor ankle sprain. The former LSU product returned to practice over the weekend and hauled in a long TD pass from Jones.
