As the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to wait for a resolution in the never-ending trade saga involving wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers legend and Hall of Famer Jerry Rice posted to social media on Tuesday night possibly hinting there could be something coming down on Wednesday.

The latest update is that the Steelers and 49ers have a trade in place, but San Fran also has a contract offer out to Aiyuk in the hopes that he'll stay, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

On Wednesday morning, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said that the Steelers "remain motivated on a Brandon Aiyuk deal, but trade talks with 49ers were quiet in recent days as S.F. decides whether to extend the WR at a price point he would accept."

"As one source pointed out, the team is ‘one phone call away’ on deal, with parameters in place," Fowler added.

Rice took to social media on Tuesday night and tagged Aiyuk in a post saying, "I guess we will all find out tomorrow GOATS! Will he stay or will he leave!"

It remains to be seen if Rice has the scoop on what's going on with Aiyuk and the 49ers, but one would assume he might after seeing that. And, if that's the case, it's unlikely he would post what he did if he knew Aiyuk is going to the Steelers.

Then again, Rice might be in the dark just like the rest of us and is simply guessing that Wednesday might be the day.

It goes without saying that the Steelers need to close on this deal with the 49ers. The team has a slew of question marks behind its top target, George Pickens, and Aiyuk would immediately bolster the wide receivers room in a big way.

But for a team like the Niners that has legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, letting a key piece of their offense go would hurt and is clearly something they don't want to do, which has helped drag out this process.

One way or the other, here's to hoping we get an answer on Wednesday.
