Coco Gauff captured her first major tournament title in last year's US Open, but she's not the betting favorite to win the 2024 event. That distinction belongs to Aryna Sabalenka.

The women's singles competition starts on Monday, Aug. 26.

It's been a challenging season for Gauff, who's been talked about as much lately for disputes with umpires as her play on the court.

The most recent setback came in the Summer Olympics, when Croatia's Donna Vekic upset Gauff (7-6, 6-2) early in singles competition. Gauff also failed to medal in the doubles and mixed doubles competitions in Paris.

Let's take a look at Coco Gauff's 2024 US Open odds and those for other top contenders to win the women's singles tournament.

Betting favorites to win US Open women's singles tournament

Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) and Iga Świątek (Poland) are the betting favorites to win the 2024 US Open. Gauff follows as the third betting choice.

Aryna Sabalenka

The big-swinging Belarusian is coming off a victory in the Cincinnati Open last weekend. Sabalenka is also a two-time defending champion at the Australian Open, which features the same hard-court competition as the US Open.

Sabalenka notably took down Świątek 6-3, 6-3 in the Cincinnati Open semifinals. She went on to defeat American Jessica Pegula in the final 6-3, 7-5.

In the lead-up to the US Open, Sabalenka has reached the finals of two hard-court events in Cincinnati and Washington, D.C. Nobody boasts better recent form heading into the US Open.

Iga Świątek

Świątek captured the bronze medal in Paris, and she's proven to be Gauff's main nemesis. Świątek sports an 11-1 overall record in head-to-head matches against Gauff.

The most recent match came in the French Open, where Świątek cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win in the semifinals. She has more wins against Gauff than any other WTA player.

Świątek, who went on to win her fourth French Open title, is 5-0 in major tournament final matches, but four of those have come on the clay in Paris.

Coco Gauff

Gauff captured last year's US Open title with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Sabalenka. The American had a chance to win back-to-back grand slam titles, but Sabalenka crushed that bid with a 7-6 6-4 win in the semifinals of this year's Australian Open.

Gauff, No. 3 in the world rankings, has an overall record of 37-12 in singles competition this year. She started the season in fine form by winning the ASB Classic in Auckland in January.

In her only tournament title this year, Gauff defeated Elina Svitolina 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the final before that subsequent loss to Sabalenka in the Australian Open. It's worth noting that both of those events were played on hard courts, so Gauff will need to revert back to her early-season form for a chance to win a second consecutive US Open.
